The Hinesville Area Board of Realtors is a local nonprofit organization that thrives to make a difference in the Liberty, Long, Tattnall and Wayne county communities. HABR is an organization comprised of 153 Realtors and 22 affiliate members who are the heart of the organization. This partnership allows HABR to make an impact within the community and make a difference in the lives of the people who reside in our communities.

Every year, the Realtors of HABR not only make an impact locally but also on a state and national level in the fight for the property rights of American citizens.

HABR annually joins forces with the Georgia Association of Realtors to take a stand to fight for Georgian’s property rights. This year, with the support of our local and state representatives, our joint endeavor helped pass House Bill 773, increasing the bond limit for the Georgia Dream Program, and House Bill 219, the regulation of private swimming pools. We will continue to fight for the rights of our citizens on a state and national level but our heart and focus will always be in our local community.

Our local Realtors pride themselves on giving back and supporting community awareness on important matters. This year we have donated $1,000 to the ESPLOST and, along with the MLS, donated $1,000 to the SPLOST awareness campaign. HABR has made numerous donations to community nonprofits and programs such as CASA, American Red Cross, Firepup Fire and Burn Prevention Program and Liberty Humane Society, to name a few.

For many years the Realtors and affiliates have come together to raise money for the American Cancer Society and support the annual Relay Four Life. This year we were able to donate more than $10,000 due to an added donation from this year’s winner of the 50/50 Raffle, Claude Dryden with Dryden Enterprises, who generously contributed $5,000 in prize winnings.

"As a cancer survivor myself I am grateful to win and donate this back to help others" Claude said.

Our community is our home and heart. HABR couldn’t do all that we do for the community without our members, affiliates and our fundraising events.

This year HABR has two fundraising events in which we are asking the public to participate. All proceeds raised will be contributed back into the community and its local charities. The first was Saturday when HABR hosted its first art auction at Bryan Commons.

The next is Nov. 19, when HABR’s annual 5K Turkey Trot Run begins at 8 a.m. We would love for everyone to join us. For more information call Cheri at 912-368-4227 or contact your neighborhood Realtor.
