Thank you to District 2 voters
Marcus Scott IV

Greetings,

Liberty County has spoken, and I’m humbled by the trust and the confidence of the residents of District 2. With trust comes a duty to serve all our students and I will do my best alongside the entire board to fulfill that duty everyday as your district representative. I spoke with Dr. Joe Kelly and congratulated him and his team on his campaign bid. It says a lot for an 81-year-old man to run for public office for the first time.

There are many people to thank, first and foremost my amazing kids Marcus and Maliyah for lending me to this journey as we advance towards continuing to excel and improve the school board in this great place, we gladly call home. Thank you to Cathy Hawes who campaigned with me from the beginning to the end. Also, I would like to thank my family (father, mother, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, and uncles, nieces and nephews).  Furthermore, I would like to thank those that publicly supported me Carolyn Smith Carter, Diane Reid, Gary Gillard, Franklin Perry, Lisa Rooks, Tangela Madge, Valerie Richard, David Morgan, Dr. Yvette Keel, Paul Kardeen, Courtney Hernandez, and Sonya Gordon.  Also, to my campaign manager MiQuan Green and my strategist Matthew Grady.

District 2 our journey together is just getting started. Together we must make our school district a better place for our students by improving our athletic department, celebrating student achievement and increasing salaries of ALL LCCSS educators. I believe this is possible, teachers should get paid what they’re worth, plus more. The quality of education here in Liberty County is just as good, if not better than any other place in Georgia. You can go anywhere from here. I am committed to ensuring our kids have a seat at the table. Rather they desire post-secondary education, technical school or the military, we will work to supply them with all the tools necessary to be successful.

To the 688 parents that let their voices be heard at the ballot box. We heard you loud and clear. You believe, not just in my ability to bring about change but in our collective ability to bring about change. For way too long as parents we often disengage in these kinds of elections because we feel like we have nothing to contribute. I stand here today to let you know that I’ll need your help. Your input is valuable, feel free to shed light on our many improvements along the way. Be a part of the conversation. Your kids are the reason we all have committed our lives to this great work. To the 582 voters I didn’t earn, I want to be your district representative as well. Hopefully we can find some common ground in helping shape the lives of our young people.

Finally, to the students of Liberty County. I know that this year hasn’t been easy.  We continue to hear new information everyday about the pandemic that shifted the trajectory of our lives. If you or your loved ones has been affected by COVID-19 my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope that this upcoming school year meets you with great anticipation knowing that you have an entire team of teachers and administrators working behind the scenes to make next school year even better. As your representative, I will ensure your school year is exceptional.

District 2 we did this TOGETHER and TOGETHER we will get it DONE AGAIN!

Educationally,

Marcus Scott IV
