Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
Recently we’ve been hearing a lot of just deserved kudos for our health care workers nationwide who have stepped up to fight the Big V. Thank You.
Events of April 11-12 have prompted me to issue similar equally just deserved praise. Unbeknownst to many the east end of Liberty suffered some devasting storms with one, two, or more tornado touchdowns.
Fortunately there was no loss of life but there was some extensive damage resulting in expansive power outages to thousands of residents.
The motto of the mail carriers is rain, sleet, or shine. These heroes extend that motto a bit further – rain, sleet, shine, dark of night, snakes, spiders, sand gnats, or anything else that stands in their way.
Yessir the linemen (and women) of our Coastal Electric Membership Cooperative I believe go on standby before any and every storm approaches the area. Then with the 1st power outage they spring to action going wherever needed.
During the recent storms I know that shortly after 0800 we lost power up and down Islands Hwy and the offshoots thereof. When we thought it safe to poke our heads out to survey the damage our linemen were already on station assessing the situation and beginning a plan of attack. We’re certain right away they knew this was going to be a LONG day as several LARGE power poles in a row were going to have to be replaced, some in the homestead of rattlesnakes and moccasin’s. Well after dark and working under lights they were true to their word: to restore the overwhelming majority of power before they went home. Truly unsung heroes who deserve our praise and gratitude for all they do in our time of need. THANK YOU.
And if you ever notice those BIG power trucks working along a road, you’re sure to spot our deputies for and aft with their lights a flashing ensuring safe passage for all in this very hazardous work area. And if you happen by at the right time, you’ll surely spot Sheriff Steve checking on the welfare of his deputies and ensuring their needs are met to get the job done. THANK YOU.
From our family to yours, a heartfelt thank for all you do.
