U.S. letting ISIS commit genocide
Letter to the editor

Editor, My favorite quotation is, "If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it," by Winston Churchill. We can see that happening today. Just like the Nazis murdered 10 million Jews, ISIS is murdering Christians, Kurds, Turkmen, Shabaks and Yazidis by the thousands. Because of the chaos, the actual number is unknown.

Today, students lack a basic understanding of world history. They know more about their iPhone games than they do of what took place in past generations. Only the "greatest generation," who lived through the Holocaust, and the baby boomers, who actually studied history, know the terrible consequences of mass genocide.

Why is the West — especially the United States — allowing this genocide to take place? This isn’t the first time the U.S. has dragged its heels in applying the proper label to a mass slaughter. We also did it during the Rwandan genocide.

Many think that this is happening because President Barack Obama is just a weak president. I don’t. I believe he secretly supports the Muslim terrorists. He continues to allow ISIS to murder throughout the world. Obama was responsible for the fall of Gadhafi in Libya, turning the country into a terrorist camp. He allowed the Muslim Brotherhood to take control of Egypt until the military threw them out. He supported Hamas. He is releasing hardened Muslim terrorists from Guantanamo Bay prison. He is bringing Muslims into our country without knowing their background, setting us up for a Paris-like attack. Obama claims that he is not a Muslim, but if it quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.

It is obvious from the Democratic primary in Georgia that many people are supporting Hillary Clinton. Why? Besides the fact that she might have broken the law, she supports what Obama is doing and will continue his policies of bringing unvetted Muslims into the country. Will she protect us or abandon us as she did Benghazi?

We need a strong president who will protect the homeland and stop the massacre of innocent men, women and children throughout the world. Our military should go in and destroy ISIS and then get out. We don’t have to stay 10 years like we did in Afghanistan.
