12-under Rebels ranked No. 6

The Coastal Crew Rebels 12-under basketball team, coached by Derrick Brooks, has gotten off to a hot start in Youth Basketball of America competition.
The Rebels placed second in the 10th Annual River-fest Classic in Columbus.
They beat then No.15 Griffin in the opener, then beat No. 12 Smyrna.
 The Rebels then took on a powerful team from Phoenix City, Ala., and initially lost by one point, on a tip in with 2.8 seconds remaining in the game, after blowing a 10 point lead late in the game.
The Rebels, however, won the game by forfeit.
The resilient Rebels then matched up with the No. 1 Atlanta Celtics Gold Team in the semi-finals
 Using an aggressive 1-2-1-1 full court press and patient offense, they broke a 23-23 halftime tie and  defeated the Celtics 53-33, holding the top ranked team to six points in the third quarter and four points in the fourth.
The Rebels advanced to the title game to take on No. 6 Columbus, the tournament host. The Rebels lost 47-37. At that time the Rebels were ranked No. 54 in the state rankings.
The Rebels improved their ranking after finishing second at the Nike Raptors Challenge in Orlando, Fla..
Next, the Rebels traveled to Anderson, S.C., where they finished third in a national qualifie at the 51st Annual Anderson Basketball Classic..
The Rebels finished 3-1 in pool play and defeated Augusta Metro 67-57 in the semi-final, but were later forced to forfeit the win.
