The South Georgia Kings 14U basketball team retains its "King of the Coast" title after the squad earned a championship trophy at the second annual King of the Coast Tournament on June 5-6 at Faith Baptist Christian Academy.

During the two-day contest, the 14U SGK team played a notoriously tough team from Jacksonville. According to 14U coach and Kings founder Jessie Fleming, the Lee Bulls were the team to beat after they went 3-0 on day one.

The Lee Bulls beat the 14U squad 68-63 during their first outing.

In April, the South Georgia Kings defeated the Bulls in overtime during pool play at the Super Regional Tournament; however, the Bulls came back in bracket play, eliminating Fleming’s team in the final four.

The coach said the rivalry that developed between the squads meant the competition for the championship trophy would be fierce.
