South Georgia Kings 15U coach Derrick Brooks has plenty of reasons to smile. His squad currently is 25-2 overall after winning four of their last five tournaments, including the Future 150 Memorial Day Classic in Birmingham, Ala.

Several college scouts attended the tournament, including Mark Reeves, who writes for All-Metro Sports and is affiliated with Rivals.com.

eduled to attend the Future 150 camp in Atlanta next month. Brooks’ son is at the Adidas Junior Phenom Camp this weekend in Columbus.

Also this weekend, a few of Brooks’ players are at the Georgia Southern Camp. Later this summer, most will attend the Five-Star Camp.

Brooks said his group of kids is likely to go Division I in the future.

The boys will be at the Nationals tournament at Little Rock, Ark., July 6-11.

During a brief summer break, Brooks will offer training for anyone interested in preparing for middle and high school basketball programs. Coach Tico Brown, Leonard Hall and SGK founder Jessie Fleming will assist in training. It’s open to ages 11-17. For more information, call 980-5006.
