Former Liberty County High School and University of Tennessee basketball star Jordan McRae is off to a good start for his current team Melbourne United in Australia.
Just three games into his new career in the National Basketball League, McRae, who arrive in Australia Sept. 9 and played his first game last Saturday, has put up big numbers.
During his first game, McRae pumped in 13 points to help Melbourne beat the Leopards 88-56. And Friday night’s performance has Australians jumping about their American import.
Melbourne had back-to-back games, losing 78-73 to the Townsville Crocs but beating the Sydney Kings 98-56. McRae led scoring in both games, draining 28 points in each.
McRae was the 58th pick overall in the 2014 NBA draft and was selected by the San Antonio Spurs. He was quickly traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers retain his right until January.
The information was gathered from the National Basketball League’s web-site.
