The Tigers are looking at a 1-1 start for baseball season after winning 10-8 Friday afternoon at Bryan County High School and losing 8-4 on Monday when they hosted Brantley County.

Monday’s loss could have been worse. The Tigers trailed 8-1 going into the final inning, when Josh Driggers’ base hit started a rally.

After taking first base, the Brantley County pitcher walked two batters to load the deck in the Tigers’ favor. Another walk forced in a score and a couple of hits brought in the last two Tigers before the inning ended.

Tiger Stephen Dill pitched until the sixth inning and DeAnte Day closed the game.

Tiger coach Rhett Hellgren said he still has a few adjustments he plans to make to the outfield as he awaits several players that are currently transitioning away from basketball to baseball.

Among them is Day’s twin brother, DeMario Day, who is known for his athleticism and speed.

On Saturday, the Tigers head to Charlton County for a junior varsity and varsity double-header. The JV squad takes the field at noon and the varsity game will follow.
