Bike race across Georgia to be broadcast

SportSouth has partnered with the Tour de Georgia, a seven-stage U.S. professional cycling race, to televise a series of 30-minute daily recaps during this year’s race, which runs from Monday through April 27.
SportSouth’s coverage of the 2008 Tour de Georgia begins on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. with a 30-minute preview, featuring analysis of the course and cyclists.
“The Tour de Georgia presented by AT&T has become an internationally famous spring tradition for cycling, and it is a valued sports property for the state,” Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle said. “It has become a tune-up event for the Tour de France and it represents an excellent opportunity to bring the world to our state.”
During the 2008 a race that takes riders over 600 miles in seven days, SportSouth will televise seven 30-minute highlight shows recapping each day, including highlights, race reactions and interviews with cyclists.   
“We are delighted to televise the 2008 Tour de Georgia presented by AT&T which will showcase world class cycling across the state,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FSN South and SportSouth.
