Liberty County downed Richmond Hill 13-0 on Friday night in the Region 2A-AAAA opener for both teams.

Standout junior running back Shadrach Thornton scored on runs of 2 and 7 yards for the Panthers, who improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the subregion.. Richmond Hill dropped to 3-2 and 0-1 in the subregion.

Liberty’s defense was stout throughout the game, unofficially holding the Wildcats to 162 total yards.

 

In Hinesville the BI Tigers gave up a 7-0 lead to lose 14-10 against the Savannah Blue Jackets. It was the Blue Jackets' first victory since Oct. 27, 2007 and placed a damper on the Tigers homecoming game. Two Tigers had to be carted off the field with injuries to their legs possibly ending their season.
