Blue Tide go 1-1; move up in region

The Long County High School baseball team continued its pattern of going 1-1 this past week, beating McIntosh County (0-13) but losing to Claxton High School (12-5).
On Tuesday, the Blue Tide (9-12 overall and 5-5 in the 2-AA Region) took on McIntosh in Darien in a big region game. Long County came out swinging and sank the Buccaneers’ ship 8-2.
This was a huge win for the Ludowici team because it moved the team into the fourth spot in the region standings, behind Benedictine Military School (10-0), Bacon County (7-1), and Jeff Davis County (8-2). With the loss, McIntosh County dropped to 0-8 in the region.
On Thursday, Long County was on the road again, traveling to Evans County for a non-region game against Claxton.
The Tigers put up five runs in the bottom of the fourth and then four more in the sixth to maul the Blue Tide 11-1.
On Friday, Long County was scheduled to play Vidalia High School (10-8 and 5-6) in Ludowici. Results for that game were not available.
On Tuesday the Blue Tide are back on the road, traveling to Garden City to take on Groves High School (0-19 and 0-8) in a double-header of region action.
The first game is at 4:30 and the second is scheduled for 6:15.
