Football coaches named players who earned 2-AA All-Region honors last week.
Taking the top sport in the region was Blue Tide senior Brendon Scott who, was named the Athlete of the Year. Scott ended the year with a quarterback rating of 88.6, completing 56 percent of his passes for 1,657 yards, and throwing 12 touchdown passes. Scott also rushed for 719 yards and punched in three touchdowns of his own.
Also garnering one of the more prestigious awards of the night were seniors Ioannis Watkins and Vaughn Kelly, who both made the All-Region Academic Team.
Being recognized with first-team honors were junior linebacker Jamin Davis, who led the defense with 131 tackles, junior defensive back Tariq Carpenter, who had 64 tackles, and wide receiver Jack Lauver, who had 35 receptions for 554 yards and four touchdowns.
Players named to the second team were senior running back Jaquarius Harrison, who led the team in scoring with 13 touchdowns and rushed for 673 yards, senior defensive lineman Darvis Holmes, who had 35 tackles, and junior wide receiver Perrel Brisbane, who had 400 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns.
Earning honorable mentions were two offensive linemen, senior Reid Goode and junior Jonathon Holton; and two linebackers junior Gerald Williams and senior Keishawn Wagner.
This year, the Blue Tide finished with a 3-7 overall record and a 2-5 mark in Region 2-AA.
