When new Long County High School head football coach Eric McNair took over the program, he said he was excited about the new season beginning.

No one, however, could have imagined that his excitement would include the Blue Tide team being the first team in the state to hit the field in full pads.

On Friday, that is exactly what will take place as the Blue Tide will begin hitting at midnight.

McNair said that after the kids hold practice, they will spend the night in the gym and do it all over again Saturday morning.
But McNair said that before the team hits the field, there will be a lot of fun and activities going on at with the inaugural Blue Tide Kick-Off Celebration starting at 6 p.m. at Veterans Field.

He said there will be a bounce house, water slide, corn-hole tournament, face painting, concessions, free giveaways and more. McNair said that the night will also include finding out who will win the $1,000 cash prize in the team’s first Pig-Drop Bingo game.

“We want to get the community together to kick off the 2015 season with fun, games and entertainment,” McNair said.
He said there is no fee to enter, but some activities will have a small charge, with the proceeds going to the team.
