Blue Tide, Panthers go at it here tonight

The Blue Tide boys and girls basketball team both lost Tuesday, both falling to 0-4 for the season.

Playing in Ludowici, the Long County boys lost a nail-biter 52-54 to Benedictine Military School.

The leading scorers for the Blue Tide were Justin Boyd and Norman Thompson. Thompson had 11 points while Boyd put up 23 points.

The leading shooter for the Cadets was Jbri Bryan who had 26 points, to lead both teams.

The Lady Tide lost to St. Vincent’s Academy, 39-68.

With the loss, both teams fell 0-1 in the 2-AA Region.

Current region standings have BC (3-1), Charlton (1-0) Pierce (3-1), Appling (2-1) and McIntosh County (2-2) on top, and Jeff Davis (2-3), Brantley (1-3), Tattnall (2-3), and Long County (0-4) all sitting at 0-1.

The girl’s standings have St. Vincent’s (2-2), Tattnall (3-2), Jeff Davis (1-0), and Appling County (3-1) on top, while Brantley (3-2), McIntosh (1-3), Pierce (1-4), Charlton (0-1), and Long County (0-4) all sit at 0-1.

Tonight, the Blue Tide travels over to Fleming for a rematch with powerhouse Liberty County High School.

The Panthers come into the game undefeated (7-0) and ranked by PrepCountry/GACA as the number five 3-AAA team in the state. They are led by standouts Rion Brown and Jordan McRae.

In the last game between the two teams, the Panthers defeated the Blue Tide, 90-72, while the girls from Liberty defeated Long, 79-40.

Tip-off for the girls game is at 6:30, while the boys contest follows.
