Blue Tide to travel to Metter to face Tigers.

Two weeks ago, Long County opened its season with a tough 21-14 loss to Tattnall County.

Last week, the Blue Tide were off, so they have had two weeks to prepare for this week’s opponent, Metter, with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday in Metter.

Long County leads the series against the Tigers 2-1. Two years ago, Metter made the playoffs and beat Long County 14-0, scoring two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter. Last year, the Blue Tide bounced back with a 28-20 to avenge the loss.

Currently, the Tigers are 2-1, having opened their season with shutout wins over Bryan County (16-0) and Claxton (20-0).

Last week, however, the wheels fell off the wagon for Metter as the Tigers were manhandled by Emanuel County Institute 41-0.

Last time out, the Tide’s rally fell just short in their loss to Tattnall County. They had the ball with 32 seconds after an onside kick, but were held out of the end zone.

According to MaxPreps.com, the Tigers are ranked No. 232 in the state, while the Blue Tide are No. 306.
