Bowman earns region top honor

Senior guard Taniyah Bowman was named the Region 1-AAAAA girls basketball player of the year, one of four Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers to earn first-team all-region honors.

Senior center Bailey Gilmore, sophomore forward Parris Parham and sophomore guard Ta’tyana Anderson were named to the first team. Ja’Nya Bush was named freshman of the year, and senior Ta’naya Moore was named honorable mention.

Bowman averaged 16.5 points per game, to go along with 5.3 steals and 3.3 assists per game. Gilmore averaged 9.6 points and 9.1 points per game, while Parham, the team’s second-leading scorer, averaged 12.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Anderson scored 9 points per game.

Bush averaged 5.2 points per game to go with 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

Bradwell finished the season at 24-5, falling to eventual state champ Kell in the Elite Eight, and were ranked No. 6 in the state by Score Atlanta.
