Bradwell Institute will host a junior varsity cheer camp/tryouts for next year’s freshmen and sophomores June 5-9.
The camp is from 8 a.m. to noon at the school and is to teach fundamental skills and a routine for tryouts. Tryouts will be on the last day. It costs $25 per participant
The following skills will be taught: spirit run, jumps (toe toucher, herkie, hurdler), side-line cheers and chants and tumbing (cartwheel and roundoff).
Cheer coach Marilyn Hampton said 10 cheerleaders are needed for the JV team. All participants must have a current physical on file**
Bradwell will have a peewee cheer camp for first through eighth graders June 12-14. This camp is to teach fundamental skills to students who may want to be part of a cheer program in the future.
It will be at the school from 8 a.m. to noon each day, and costs $25.00 per participant. The skills listed above, and pyramids, will be taught
The participants will be placed in teams, and each day the team with the most spirit will win a spirit stick.
Teams compete against each other on the last day.
