Richmond Hill scored three touchdowns before Bradwell Institute could get on the scoreboard Friday at Olvey Field, and the Wildcats ran away with a 56-28 win in a key Region 2-AAAAAA football game.

The loss, Bradwell’s second straight, drops the Tigers to 6-2 overall and 0-2 in the region.

But BI didn’t go quietly despite trailing 35-7 at halftime, with the Tigers’ only score before the break an 8-yard run by Kevin Harris and the extra point by Kevin Lockhart.

Curvontae Bryant scored on a 98-yard punt return in the third quarter and Lockhart added the extra point to pull BI within 35-14. Harris added a 3-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, and receiver O’Brien Nobles and quarterback Vencent Gilbert teamed up on a 76-yard pass TD to round out the Tigers’ scoring.

Gilbert finished 8 of 18 passing for 164 yards and one TD, while Harris had 22 carries for 94 yards and two TDs. Nobles caught two passes for 77 yards and the score and John Spaulding had three catches for 54 yards to lead Bradwell.

The Tigers, who won their first six games to guarantee the program’s first winning season since 2009, have been outscored 120-48 in two Region 2-AAAAAA games.

Up next: Bradwell has a bye Friday. The Tigers play at Effingham County on Oct. 27.
