The Bradwell Institute basketball teams wrapped up the regular season Tuesday by splitting Region 3-AAAAA games at Statesboro.
The Lady Tigers downed the Lady Blue Devils, 43-24, while the Tigers lost, 58-48.
Both BI teams begin region-tourney play this week at Effingham County High School. The Lady Tigers play Ware County at 3:30 p.m. Monday, while the Tigers open against Richmond Hill at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The final stats from the girls’ game were not available at press time. The Lady Tigers finished the regular season 13-12 overall and 5-7 in region play.
According to maxpreps.com, junior Lady Tiger Brianna Johnson has scored 180 points this season. Tiger coach Rhett Hellgren praised the effort his team showed against Statesboro to close the season.
“We did a pretty good job against a very athletic Statesboro team,” he said. “Unfortunately, we had some miscues in the first half and it cost us in the end. We definitely played better than they did in the second half, but was not just enough to overcome the first half.”
The Tigers, who had a young team this season, finished 4-22 overall and 3-10 in the region.
