Bradwell tops rival Liberty

The Bradwell Institute softball team got back to within a game of reaching .500, thanks to a win over rival Liberty County.

The Lady Tigers picked up their Region 1-AAAAA win of the season with an 11-3 win over Jenkins in which they stole 17 bases. Freshman Kainani Auld accounted for five of the steals.

Lexie Carson went 3-for-4 with three doubles and drove in two runs. Auld was 2-for-4 and Alyssa Haynes was 2-for-3.

Leah Denmark fanned seven and allowed just one earned run.

Carson’s single was the lone hit in an 8-0 loss to Coffee in a Region 1-AAAAA matchup before the Lady Tigers topped Liberty County 10-2.

Auld had two doubles and drove in five runs, going 2-for-3 in the win. Heather Garrett also went 2-for-3. Carson and Kyrstin Barnard each added a hit.

Liberty was held to four hits, all singles, from Payton Proman, Emma Charter, Mya Armstrong and Adaiah Ferguson.

Liberty will visit St. Vincent’s on Monday for the first two games of their three-game set and Bradwell will host Ware County on Thursday and visit Greenbrier on Saturday.
