Rarely does a team in the Liberty County Recreation Department storm through a baseball season like the Braves did in the Pee-Wee league.
They capped their perfect season Friday, with a thrilling 20-13 win over the Rockies at Jaycee Field to win the title.
Evan Vaughn singled, tripled and homered — missing the cycle by a double — for the Braves. His teammate Ryan Desbiens recorded three hits, including a double.
For the Rockies, Cameron Hensel had a good day at the plate, hitting a homerun and a double.
Braves players include: Nicholas Alyea, Nenry Blair, Charles Burriss, Ryan Desbiens, Daniel Genard, Tristan Nelson, Alex O’Neal, Cesar Ramos, Hunter Sauls, Angel Siegel, Samuel Trawick and Evan Vaughn. Freddy Vaugh coaches the Braves.
In other Pee-Wee action:
Rockies 9, Mariners 4
Terry Wells had three hits, including a double for the Rockies.
Tyree Perdue singled twice for the Mariners.
Rockies 8, Cardinals 7
Jaalon Frazier had three hits, including a double in the win.
Hunter Hawkins had four hits, including a double in the loss.
Braves 14, Mariners 4
Henry Blair had three hits, including a homer for the Braves, while Tristan Nelson singled twice and doubled.
Joshua Atkins had two hits in the loss.
The Midget league had its championship game Tuesday, but the results were not complete in time for press. Look for the results in Friday’s edition of the Courier
