Carter repeats as top pitcher

Liberty County pitcher Kathryn Carter was chosen the Region 3-AAAA Pitcher of the Year by the coaching staffs of the regions schools, according to Lady Panthers softball coach Jerome Standard.

Liberty County pitcher Kathryn Carter was chosen the Region 3-AAAA Pitcher of the Year by the coaching staffs of the region’s schools, according to Lady Panthers softball coach Jerome Standard.

This is the second year in a row Carter has won that title.

Carter finished the season with an earned-run average of 1.46, netting 11 wins and 23 saves. She pitched 91 innings, tossing 111 strikeouts while walking only 10 batters.
Carter also led the Lady Panthers with home runs and was 29-of-73 batting with 12 RBIs.

Also, Lady Panthers Rachel Smith and Kaleigh Fisher were selected for the All-Region first team, and Cassidy Collum was All-Region honorable mention.
Smith had 25 hits in 70 at bats with 10 RBIs, three doubles and four triples.

Fisher also had 25 hits in 67 at-bats with eight RBIs and a triple. Fisher also pitched 45 innings this year with 30 strikeouts, an ERA of 2.45 and two wins.

Collum had 15 hits in 60 at bats with 10 RBIs, a double and one home run.
