Crusaders sweep GCA Christmas Invitational

The varsity boys and girls basketball teams from Faith Baptist Christian Academy in Ludowici won the inaugural GCA Christmas Invitational Tournament hosted in the Glennville Christian Academy gymnasium this past weekend.
Providence Christian School of Port Wentworth took home the runner-up trophy with third place going to the Minutemen of host Glennville Christian Academy.  
GCA was runner-up in the girls’ bracket followed by the Lady Eagles of Appling Christian Academy in third place. The Lady Lions of Trinity Christian School in Statesboro rounded out the tournament field.
The Faith Baptist Crusaders were led by tournament MVP Aaron Powers.
Powers averaged 14 points per game from his number-two guard position.  
Faith rolled over their competition with a balanced fast break attack and smothering defense.  
In the boys’ bracket, Appling’s Truss Beasley led all scorers with 23.5 points per game. GCA’s James Frazier averaged 18.5 points per game and Providence’s Austin James poured in 16.5 to lead their respective teams.
Senior center and tournament MVP Erin Madray led the Faith Baptist Lady Crusaders with 21.5 points per game and dominant rebounding. Point guard Constance MacLamore poured in 18 points per game to help her team’s cause.
