STATESBORO — The Georgia Southern men’s basketball team has announced its 10-game 2015-16 nonconference schedule.

Games at defending national-champion Duke, Ole Miss and Auburn highlight the schedule, which includes four home games. The 2015-16 season opener is Nov. 13 against Webber International.

“This is going to be an extremely challenging schedule for this team, but I know they are excited about playing great competition,” Georgia Southern head coach Mark Byington said. “Obviously, it is highlighted by a trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium and playing the defending national champs, but I am also looking forward to playing two very good SEC teams in Auburn and Ole Miss. I believe we scheduled to accelerate our team’s growth, and I hope we are up to playing this demanding schedule. The Sun Belt Conference will be even better than last season, so we will need some players to persevere in new roles.”

Georgia Southern went 22-9 last season to record the program’s first 20-win year since the 2005-06 campaign. The Eagles were two points shy of their first NCAA Tournament bid since 1992, falling to rival Georgia State in the championship game.

The 2015-16 Georgia Southern squad will be one of the nation’s youngest with just one senior (graduate transfer DeVince Boykins) and two juniors (walk-ons Scott Kelly and Grayson Clark). Returners Jake Allsmiller, Mike Hughes, Coye Simmons and Devonte Boykins will be joined by a cast of three redshirt freshmen (Aubrey McRae, Shawn O’Connell and Jonathan Sanks) and four true freshmen (Montae Glenn, Ike Smith, Tookie Brown and Jason Burnell).
