Bud Frankenthaler finished his third State Park Triathlon at Indian Springs State Park on June 23.The Hinesville resident brought home his division’s silver medal, though there were only two competitors. His place wasn’t as important as the endurance.“And in that 100 degree weather it was great to just finish,” Frankenthaler said. “I did not do as well as last year when it was cooler for this event.”There were 567 registered for the race and 467 finished. Frankenthaler, 74, competed in the master’s 70-74 age division and finished all three events in 2:33:14:85 — 29:16:28 in the swim, 1:21:48:90 on the bike and 35:18:28 in the run.The winning time in his division was put in by Jerry Ban, 73, of Lumber City at 1:43:00:27.Frankenthaler said his next race will be at  Mistletoe State Park on July 28.“With a finish, I can win the series based on perseverance, not performance,” he said.
