After only being able to bang helmets against each other for several weeks, the Long County High School football team finally got the opportunity to hit someone else.

On Aug. 11 the Blue Tide took on Southeast Bulloch High School in a scrimmage in Ludowici.

Though no score was kept, both coaching staffs got a chance to see how their squads looked against a common opponent.  First-year Long County Head Coach J.T. Pollock said that his team was excited about the scrimmage, and that they were adapting to the new way of doing things with his staff.

“The team has been very enthusiastic and they have been competing well against each other, the players are working hard and picking up our style of practices,” Pollock said.

Last year the Blue Tide football team had a disappointing season posting a 1-5-2 record.  After Coach Eric McNair resigned, Long County hired Pollock who previously coached at Appling County compiling an 82-49-2 mark over 12 seasons.

Long County will kick off its regular season Aug. 25 against Islands High School in Ludowici.
