Courtney Bennett has been throwing for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks for two years.

Former Liberty County track athlete Courtney Bennett marked two records in two weeks for Jacksonville State.

March 12, the sophomore tossed a discus 154 feet, 7 inches during the Gamecock Quad Invitational, according to the school’s athletic website.
The former record throw was by Ebony Moore (150 feet, 5 inches) in 2009.

Saturday, the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Woman’s Field Athlete of the Week marked another record in the shot put. She recorded a toss of 45 feet, 7 inches, besting the 44-feet, 6-inch mark of Danielle Moss from 2014.

Bennett holds the record in the weight throw as well, clearing 56 feet, 9.5 inches on Feb. 26 during the indoor season.
The Gamecocks will be at the Emory Classic this weekend in Atlanta.
