Four high school senior athletes, two from Liberty County High School and two from Bradwell Institute, were recently named 2018 Wendy’s High School Heisman winners.

Bradwell’s Heisman winners are football player Michael Hagerty and soccer player Oslyn Nixon.

Liberty County High School student athletes Jolie Komlan and Patrick Underwood, Jr., also received the 2018 Wendy’s High School Heisman awards.

Komlan plays soccer, tennis and basketball. Underwood competes in baseball and football.

All four students also maintain high academic standards and are involved in community service.

Since 1994, Wendy’s Restaurants have teamed up with the Heisman Trophy Trust to create the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

The award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership.

To be eligible for the award, students must have at least a “B” grade average (3.0 GPA) during grades 9, 10, and 11, and must participate in at least one of 47 Wendy’s High School Heisman recognized sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee or the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Award winners are also those students who have participated in volunteer service, community involvement or leadership within his or her school or community.
