ATLANTA - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has honored two student-athletes from Liberty County, naming them to the 202223 SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team. Additionally, two more student-athletes from Liberty and Long counties have been recognized on the 2022-23 All-Academic Team.
To earn a spot on the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average throughout the 2022-23 academic year.
To earn the league’s highest academic honors on the All-Academic Team, student-athletes with a 3.2 or higher were considered for all-academic team honors. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions usually involved in that sport.
Kenneth Lockhart from Savannah State University and Daiton Pass from Edward Waters University were named to the All-Academic Team while Marcus Scott V from Central State University and Trista Murphy of Albany State University were named to the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.
Lockhart, who is a member of the SSU football team, is a senior electrical engineering technology major at SSU and Pass, a member of the EWC baseball team, is a junior business administration major. Both Lockhart and Pass are graduates of Bradwell Institute.
Scott, who is a Hinesville native and a basketball player at Central State, is a graduate student seeking his masters of business administration while Murphy, a Long County native, is a softball player who is a junior biology major.
