First Presbyterian Christian Academys Dylan Stewart receives the call from his coach before taking his at bat against Edmund Burke earlier this season at home. FPCA will host the first round of the state playoffs as the No. 2 seed starting Friday.

First Presbyterian Christian Academy downed Memorial Day 15-0 in three innings last Wednesday to finish as the second-place team in Region 2-AA.

The Highlanders had one final regular-season game Monday at Edmund Burke Academy, but the final score was not received by press time.

FPCA already has clinched a playoff spot, and the second-place finish adds the bonus of hosting the first-round series. According to Highlanders coach Ryan Harmon, FPCA will host Georgia Christian from Valdosta on Friday in a best-of-three series. The first game starts at 2 p.m. Friday and the second game will immediately follow. The third game, if needed, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday.

“We finished with a 7-3 record in the region and improve to 10-7 overall,” Harmon said. “I’m very proud of the way these young guys fought all season to get us to this point.”

FPCA finished region play having beaten every 2-AA team at least once and twice swept their region opponent.
