FPCA Highlander boys still undefeated

So far, so good for the First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys basketball team.

On Saturday in Valdosta, the Highlanders extended their undefeated streak with an 81-53 win against Georgia Christian. After winning the Georgia Independent School Association’s Class A title last season, the Highlanders are off to a 9-0 start this year, including a 2-0 mark in Region 2-A.

Junior A.J. Ansley led FPCA with a game-high 21 points. He added eight rebounds and two steals. Joey Bell contributed 12 points and seven assists, while Hakeem Golden piled up 15 rebounds and 12 points, T.A. Alston had nine assists, eight rebounds, seven points and three steals, and Mike Brown scored 15 points.

Bell is averaging 18.8 points so far this season, while Ansley is pouring in 16.7 ppg. The duo is ranked Nos. 1 and 2 among scoring leaders in Region 2-A.

Also on Saturday, FPCA’s girls team fell 55-23 to Georgia Christian. The Lady Highlanders are 1-3, 1-1 in GISA Region 2-A

Box scores for the games were not available.

FPCA is not scheduled to play again until Dec. 19 at Heritage Christian Academy in Brunswick.
