Frankenthaler finishes first triathlon of the year
bud
Bud Frankenthaler is back on the triathlon circuit.
Bud Frankenthaler is at it again, competing in the Tri the Parks triathlon series that is.
This is the seventh year the event has been held in state parks and the second year that Frankenthaler is competing.
On April 28, the 74-year old Frankenthaler finished his first of five scheduled triathlons of the year, this one at Tanner State Park in Carrollton.
He swam .625 of a mile in 27 minutes, 51.1 seconds, cycled 15 miles in 1:12:38.2 and ran five kilometers in 37:23.2. Including his two transition times, Frankenthaler finished the race in 2:29:36, beating last year’s time at the park of 2:30:38.34
Frankenthaler said that wasn’t his best time, but he was glad he beat last year’s time.
Unfortunately, his two biggest fans, his wife Barbara and their mini schnauzer Penny, were not there to cheer on Frankenthaler in the race.
However, they will cheer him on Saturday when he competes in his second triathlon, this one at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder.
