Entering his second season armed with a new, two-year contract, former Bradwell Institute Tiger and Georgia Tech linebacker Gary Guyton shined Thursday during the first day of training camp at Gillette Stadium.

During the afternoon practice, Guyton intercepted a pass from Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and, according to Erik Scalavino, the Patriots official blogger for "Patriots Football Weekly," Guyton’s angle and quick reflex could have converted the pick into a 100-yard touchdown interception.

Christopher Price, a blogger at sports radio network WEEI.com, said, "Gary Guyton stepped in front of a Tom Brady pass and had a terrific angle toward the other goal line — given Guyton’s speed and his location on the field, it would have almost surely been six if he was taking it back in a real game."

Guyton signed a two-year extension June 23. He will earn $505,000 in 2010 and $1 million in 2011 and will receive a $650,000 signing bonus.
