The ninth annual GEICO-Ohio Wesleyan Collegiate Invitational Golf Tournament is scheduled March 13-15 at Hunter Golf Course in Savannah.
The event, hosted by Ohio-Wesleyan University, provides an opportunity to play with top rated university golfers slated for the Professional Golf Association tour. The tournament also allows players the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete with other universities.
“The tournament is an exciting event for Hunter Army Airfield,” Tommie McArthur, club manager said. “Because we are probably the only MWR golf course on an Army installation that holds a national collegiate golf tournament.”
The 18 universities competing are: Armstrong Atlantic State, Savannah College of Art and Design, Creighton, Savannah State, Wright State, Bryant College, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley State, West Chester, North Carolina Wesleyan, Ohio Wesleyan, Findlay, Webster, Faulkner, Skidmore College, Virginia at Wise, South Carolina at Beaufort, and Warner Southern.
The college-am event begins with lunch for the players on March 13, followed by an 18-hole tournament with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun.  Play is open to all interested.
It features 18 teams of four members, and a number one collegiate player, who will play his ball separately, adding his score to the four-man team total.
The $65 per person entry fee includes green and cart fees, tournament social, lunch, prizes and driving range balls. The Friday event gives golfers the opportunity to be paired with a top university player.
The competitors will play 36 holes on March 14 and 18 holes on March 15. Spectators are invited at no cost.
