The Liberty County Recreation Department had several basketball squads compete in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Class B tournaments, held March 6-7 in Effingham, Sumter and Thomson-McDuffie counties.
In the 9- and 10-year-old class of the mite boys, team Liberty took a second-place finish, losing to Villa Rica 52-37.
The 11- and 12-year-old midget girls took home the championship trophy, defeating Habersham 45-30.
The LCRD junior boys placed second, losing to Hapeville 78-51 and the senior boys took first, defeating Wayne County by 2 (63-61).
