Hammerheads succeed at meet

The Liberty County Hammerheads performed above expectations at their swim meet June 11 in Douglas.

"I did know how the meet would turn out since some swimmers had not completed certain events which included the backstroke, the butterfly or the freestyle relays,” LCRD coach Susan Baker said. “I was so proud of my swimmers because they were able to swim all of their events, swim the events well and finish in excellent positions or place well.”
In the 100-yard freestyle, Stephanie Hahn finished fourth, while Jenny Windham and Nicole Puckett finished fifth and sixth respectively for the girls.. For the boys, Taylor Baker finished third, while Thomas Baker finishes sixth.
In the medley relays, the 11-12 girls, comprised of Bethany Langston (back), Kirsten Morris (breast), Margaret Turner (fly) and Stephanie Hahn (free), finished with their best time and with a third place finish.
The 13-14 boys, comprised of Dakota Woods (back), Kevin Morris (breast), Ransom Davis-Wilkes (fly) and Taylor Baker (free), finished first.
In the freestyle 8-under age group, Alyssa Pitts finished 12th for the girls. For the boys, Samuel Baker finished eighth, Patrick Baker finished 12th and Nicholas Hahn finished 13th.
In the 10-under age group, Nadine Moses finished 12th and  Alexa Bowerman finished 18th.

In the 11-12 age group, Margaret Turner finished second, Bethany Langston finished eighth and Ashley Pitts finished 15th for the girls, while Jimmy Arnold finished fifth for the boys.
In the 13-14 age group, Jennifer Gaughran finished seventh and Ransom Davis-Wilkes finished second for the girls. Dakota Woods finished sixth and Kevin Owens finished 10th for the boys. In the 15-18 age group, Charley Harrison finished 13th for the girls and Joseph Owens finished sixth for the boys.
In the breast stroke, Nicholas Hahn finished second for the 8-and-unders. Kirsten Morris swam to a third place showing, while Stephanie Hahn swam to a seventh place finish for the 11-12 girls. In the 13-14 group, Jenny Windham placed fourth with Jennifer Gaughran finishing eighth for the girls. Kevin Morris took first and Dakota Woods finished a close second in the boys group. Joseph Owens finished fourth in the 15-18 age group.
In the 100-yard individual medley, Margaret Turner placed  second for the 11-12 age group. Nicole Puckett placed fourth and Taylor Baker placed third for the 13-14 age group. Thomas Baker placed fifth for the 15-18 age group to finish up the event.
In the backstroke, Alyssa Pitts finished third in the 8-and-under. Patrick Baker finished fifth and Samuel Baker finished seventh. In the 10-unders, Nadine Moses placed ninth and Alexa Bowerman placed 11th. In the 11-12 group, Bethany Langston placed first, Jessica Puckett placed seventh, Ashley Pitts placed 11th and Jimmy Arnold placed fourth. In the 13-14 age group, Kevin Morris placed second and Kevin Owens placed fourth. In the 15-18 group, Charley Harrison finished seventh.
Ransom Davis-Wilkes finished second in the butterfly.
The 11-12 girls’ freestyle relay team, comprised of Bethany Langston, Stephanie Hahn, Margaret Turner and Kirsten Morris, placed fourth. The 13-14 boys’ freestyle relay team, comprised of Taylor Baker, Dakota Woods, Kevin Morris and Ransom Davis-Wilkes finished first.
