The Hinesville Housing Authority-Residents Services division hosted a football camp for male residents at Regency Apartments on July 25-27.
Michael Thompson, head football coach at Memorial Day, brought
his varsity team, the Blue Thunder, to teach participants the fundamentals of the game.
The Blue Thunder, out of Savannah, were last season’s Georgia Independent School Association Class 2-A state champions.
Regency apartment resident Donovan Young, 12, was nominated by the team as the camp’s standout. He displayed dedication, commitment, and improvement, according to the camp organizers.
At the camp’s end, Young received a signed Blue Thunder jersey from the coaching staff and team. In addition, he was invited to attend the team’s games throughout the 2014-15 football season.
