The First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlander baseball squad will host a non-region game Saturday at noon against Frederica Academy. After Saturday, the team will prepare for the final two region games next week before heading into the Georgia Independent School Association playoffs.

On Tuesday, they battled top-seeded Citizens Christian and held them to a five-point lead going into the sixth inning before the Patriots pulled out an 11-2 victory.

Highlander coach Joey Brown said the game was 7-2 going into the sixth but the Patriots were able to add the last four runs off walks.

He said the Highlanders had a good rotation on the mound with Ryan Smiley, Nathan Ward and Matt Brown all getting some throwing time.

Ward led the FPCA hitters going 2-3 and had a double. Brown, Tyler Hensley and Josh Rogers had one hit each.

"We got in a hole early by giving up 5 runs in the first but played a good solid game after that," Brown said. "It was a good effort against a good ball team."

Next week, the Highlanders travel to Bellville on Monday to play region opponent Pinewood Christian. On Tuesday, they’ll be in Valdosta to face Georgia Christian.
