Proving it’s not about the number of players who make up a team but rather all about the skills, the seven-man First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys basketball team picked up its ninth straight win while improving to 11-1 for the season.

On Thursday night, the Highlanders took on New Birth Christian in the Coaches versus Cancer Tournament at Robert Toombs Christian Academy and emerged with a 48-42 win.

On Friday, the Highlanders played last year’s Georgia Independent School Association Class AAA state champs, Deerfield Windsor.

The Highlanders took on the Knights’ 14-man team, led for the whole game and won 54-45, according to Highlander assistant coach David Linderman.

On Saturday, the boys played the Arlington Eagles, last year’s GISA Class AA state runner-up, and pummeled the Eagles 74-40.

The Highlanders are set to travel to Orlando for a tournament at Bishop Moore Dec. 27-30.
