First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s baseball team has clinched a state-playoff spot.
The Highlanders beat Citizens Christian Academy 5-3 on April 21 in Douglas and swept a home doubleheader with Frederica on Saturday 4-3 and 15-12.
FPCA was scheduled to host Memorial Day in a region game Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time. Going into Tuesday’s action, the Highlanders were 9-7 overall and 6-3 in region play.
FPCA coach Ryan Harmon said Jared Wells earned the win against Citizens Christian Academy, pitching a complete game and allowing two earned runs. Kyle Hill had a two-run single.
Harmon said the rain stayed away long enough Saturday for the Highlanders to sweep the Knights. Cameron Nunn pitched the first game, earning the win. Harmon said everyone in his pitching rotation got a chance on the mound in game two.
