Hurricanes take win against Gators

The Hinesville Hurricanes, the 2010 semi-professional football champions based in Hinesville, beat the South Carolina Gators 34-6.

The football game was held in Hartsville, SC this past Saturday. 

According to Hurricane team founder and coach James Sharp, the games was tied 6-6 at the half.

In the third quarter Kendrick Badger broke free from tackles for an 80 yard touchdown run. Hurricane Tracey Lewis later followed that up with his own 60 yard touchdown run.

By the end of the game the Hurricanes had amassed 330 rushing yards.

Quarterback Willie Beamer had 240 passing yards with two touchdown passes.

The ‘Canes are on a bye week this Saturday.

On April 13 the Hurricanes will be on the road playing the South Carolina Ducks in Colombia.

Their next home games is on April 27 when the ‘Canes host the South Carolina Spartans.

The Hurricanes will host the division championship game May 4 against the Savannah Titans.

Home games are held at the football field on Liberty Independent Troop Park. Admission is $5 for adults, children 12 and under free.
