The Jeff Davis High School softball team defeated Long County High School on Tuesday, 14-0.

The Lady Tide kept it close through two innings with the Yellow Jackets on top 2-0, even though they put up 5 hits.

However, in the top of the third, Jeff Davis put up 5 more hits and 8 more runs to add to their lead. In the bottom of the inning, the hometown crowd tried to fire up the Lady Tide, but to no avail. At the end of three it was 10-0.

In the top of the fourth, the visiting team added four more runs to go up 14-0, which is where the game ended.

Yellow Jacket pitcher Leeanna Jackson dominated the game from start to finish, while the Blue Tide’s Kayla Mills had her worst outing of the season.

The win was the 10th in a row for the Yellow Jackets and their third shutout in a row. The Hazlehurst team is undefeated and ranked No. 6 in the state by the PrepCountry.com/GACA rating system.

The loss dropped the Lady Tide’s record to 2-5 overall and to 1-2 in Region 2-AA. Despite the loss, the Long County team is still in the fourth spot in the region behind the Jeff Davis, Appling County (1-0) and Brantley County (2-1).

The Blue Tide ladies have another region game tomorrow against Pierce County. The Lady Bears have yet to win a game and sit at 0-2-3, with a region mark of 0-1.

The game is in Ludowici at 5:30 p.m.
