Lady Blue Tide Pick up Win over Indians

LUDOWICI - The Blue Tide Ladies needed a win and Tuesday they got one, beating the Charlton County Indians.
Playing before a homecoming crowd, the Long County team won the game 52-39.
The ladies from Ludowici, had a narrow lead at the end of the first period 9-7, but in the second, they out scored the Charlton girls 14-8, to go in at the half up 23-15.
Intent on not losing momentum in the third period, the blue ladies went on a 7-0 run to open the quarter to go up 30-15, but the Indian girls would not quit, and by the beginning of the fourth, the score had closed to 37-30.
Over the final period, the Blue Tide girls managed to stay on top, out shooting the visiting team 15-9 to get a well deserved win, 52-39.
The win was a sweet as any to the home team. Injuries and bad luck have hampered the squad over the last few games.
In the contest, Bre Page had 2 points, Brenda Collins had 3, India Gamble put in 6, Shareka Turner had 7, Brittany Mills had 13, and Angel Wilson was the big shooter with 21 points.
The win brought the overall record of the Blue Tied ladies up to 6-12, and their Region 2-AA Record to 4-8.
The ladies will travel to Brunswick tonight and the be back at home Saturday as they play the 3-AAAA Lady Pirates at the coast, and then the Appling County Pirates in Ludowici.
Both games are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
