The Lady ’Landers of First Presbyterian Christian Academy defeated the Faith Baptist girls 55-42 in a home game Tuesday at the St. James Sports Center.
Despite a couple of runs in the first half by the Lady Crusaders, the FPCA girls maintained control of the entire game.
“The key to tonight’s win for us was that we worked hard and made our free throws,” Lady ’Landers’ coach Rosby Frasier said.
Faith started to make a run at FPCA with five minutes left in the third quarter to cut FPCA’s lead to 26-24. The Lady Highlanders stepped up their defense and capitalized off the visiting team’s turnovers, keying a six point run which allowed them to keep a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
The Lady Highlanders had three players in double figures. Brianna Reece led all scorers with 19 points. Aaliyah Wilson contributed 12 and T’era Alston finished with 10 points.
Faith’s Kadeshia Farmer put in 12 points for the Lady Crusaders. Laniqua Fowler chipped in 9 points.
FPCA moves to 2-6 for the season.
“Tonight was a cumulative effort. We played hard and played together,” Frasier said.
