Lady Tide drop three straight

Two isn’t a lucky number for the Long County High School softball team. Last Tuesday, the squad lost 7-2 to Appling County. On Thursday, the Tide lost 7-2 to Pierce County, and on Tuesday, Long County lost 4-2 to Tattnall County.

With the three-game losing streak, the team’s overall record drops to 7-9 and their Region 2-AA mark is 4-6.

According to, the 2-AA standings have Appling (19-6) on top at 8-0, followed by Jeff Davis (18-6) at 6-0, Tattnall (12-5-1) at 6-2, Vidalia (15-6) at 4-2, Brantley County (13-13) at 4-4, Pierce (7-16-1) at 4-4, Long County (7-9) at 4-6, Toombs County (4-13) at 1-5, St. Vincent’s Academy (1-10) at 1-5 and McIntosh County (3-15) at 0-8.

On Wednesday, the Lady Tide played their last game of the regular season at home against the Liberty County Panthers. When the two teams met last month, the Ludowici girls shut out LCHS 5-0. With the playoffs beginning next week, both teams need a victory. Results from the game will be in Sunday’s Courier.
