Lady Tide go 1-1 over the weekend

The Long County High School softball team traveled to Hazlehurst on Friday and split a nonregion doubleheader.

In their early game, the Lady Tide lost 4-0 to Cook County, but bounced back later that afternoon by slamming Wheeler County 12-0.

With the results, Long County improved its overall record to 10-7 and remained at 2-5 in Region 2-AA. Cook County improved to 5-4, while Wheeler County dropped to 4-11.

On Tuesday the Lady Tide were scheduled to be back on the road, traveling to Pembroke for a big region game against Bryan County. Results were unavailable at press time.

Today, Long County hits the road again to face Glynn Academy in nonregion action. According to MaxPreps.com, the Lady Terrors had a record of 2-4 as of Monday. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, Long County is back at home for a huge region game against Jeff Davis County. As of Monday, the Yellow Jackets have a record of 8-4 overall and a region mark of 4-3.

When the two teams met earlier this season, Jeff Davis was too much for Long County, beating the Lady Tide 4-0 in Hazlehurst.

MaxPreps.com has the Yellow Jackets as the No. 3 AA team in the state and Long County at No. 9.
