Lady Tide have six players earn 2-AA All-Region honors

Seniors Makaylee Fowler (left) and Harley Dawson were two of six players from the Long County softball team to be recognized on the 2-AA All-Region Team.

The 2-AA All-Region softball team was recently named and Long County had six players make the team.

First team players include seniors Harley Dawson and Makaylee Fowler. Making the second team were senior Caitlyn Wingate and freshman Bailey Harrison. Earning honorable mention distinction were senior Katie Estill and sophomore Rylie Poppell.

Lady Tide head coach Brian Thomas congratulated all of the girls and had high praise for each.
“We are very proud of our All-Region selections,” Thomas said. “These girls worked very hard to be recognized as some of the best players from a very competitive region.”

The Lady Tide finished with a 17-12 overall record and a 7-10 2-AA Region mark. They lost 2-1 in a best-of-three series with Jeff Davis in the region tournament.

According to MaxPreps.com, Long County ended as the No. 17 team in the state in AA rankings.
