Lady Tide open softball regular season Aug. 4

The schedule for the Long County High School softball team is nearly set.
Last year, the Lady Tide made it to the state playoffs, posting an 8-6 mark in Region 2-AA and 14-16 overall.

This year, the team will look to build on that success with region pitcher of the year Harley Dawson on the mound, and fellow region team members Katie Estill and Caitlyn Wingate backing her up.

In August, the Lady Tide kick off the season with four road games. On Aug. 4, they take on Brunswick. On Aug. 8, they play Crisp County and Telfair County. And on Aug. 10, they travel to Hinesville to take on Liberty County.

They begin a four-game home stand on Aug. 11 by taking on St. Vincent’s Academy. They play Brunswick on Aug. 12, Bryan County on Aug. 13 and Glynn Academy on Aug. 17.

A four-game road trip follows, with the Tide facing Jeff Davis on Aug. 18, Savannah Country Day on Aug. 19, New Hampstead in a double-header on Aug. 22 and Liberty County on Aug. 24. On Aug. 25, they play Vidalia on the road, and on Aug. 27, Bacon County in Ludowici.

The Lady Tide begin September with a six-game road streak. On Sept. 1, they play McIntosh County; on Sept. 3, St. Vincent’s Academy; on Sept. 4, Cook County and Wheeler County; on Sept. 8, Bryan County; and on Sept. 9, they face Glynn Academy.

A four-game home stand begins Sept. 10 again at Jeff Davis. On Sept. 16, they play Jenkins; on Sept. 17, Vidalia; and on Sept. 21, Savannah Country Day.

On Sept. 22, the Tide go to Alma to take on Bacon County, and they close the regular season Sept. 24 at home against McIntosh County.
The girls also play Groves High School twice, but the location of those games had not been determined.
Playoffs begin Oct. 1.

The Lady Tide junior varsity’s season starts Aug. 10 in Hinesville against Liberty County. A four-game home stand follows: St. Vincent’s on Aug. 11, Brunswick on Aug. 12, Glynn Academy on Aug. 17 and Liberty County on Aug. 24.

On Sept. 3, they play St. Vincent’s in Savannah and on Sept. 9, Glynn Academy in Brunswick. The Lady Tide JV close out the season at home against Jenkins on Sept. 16 and Liberty County in a doubleheader on Sept. 23.
