Lady Tide
The Lady Tide softball team picked up its first Region 2-AA win of the year Tuesday beating St. Vincents Academy, 9-0, in Ludowici.

The Long County High School softball team got a no-hitter from pitcher Harley Dawson en route to winning its first Region 2-AA game of the season Tuesday by pummeling St. Vincent’s Academy, 9-0, in five innings in Savannah.
Dawson didn’t allow a hit and struck out seven batters.
The Lady Tide jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and secured the win by scoring six more runs in the fourth. Alyssa Anderson batted 2 for 2 with a double, and Madalyne Flynn hit 1 for 2 with a double and three runs batted in.
Lady Tide head coach Brian Thomas said he was happy with his team’s performance and especially pleased with its defensive play.
“It’s always great to get off to a fast start,” he said. “I was pleased with the way we played, and I think that we are getting close to being where we need to be.”
With the win, the Lady Tide moved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the region.  The Lady Tide were scheduled to play Bryan County on Thursday in Pembroke; results from that game were not available by press time.
Today, Long County is back on the diamond, facing Glynn Academy in a non-region game at 5 p.m. in Ludowici.
